As they get older, the vast majority of seniors will tell you that they want to stay at home rather than be confined to a rehabilitation center, assisted living community, nursing facility, or hospital. This can be especially true for patients with dementia or other forms of short term memory loss, who may find a facility somewhat unfamiliar.

Our in-home personal care and support services (PCSS) allow seniors to receive the help they need from the comfortable and familiar surroundings of their own home, making a huge difference to their quality of life.

Live with Dignity, Purpose and Self-Worth

It makes perfect sense that your aging loved one would value their independence, but sometimes independence needs a helping hand. Interim HealthCare of Salt Lake City provides personal care and support services to fill the gaps in whatever way each patient needs, creating a whole-person, individualized plan that helps them lead a more empowered and enriched life at home. Afterall, home is where the heart thrives and the place your loved one will feel most in control of their care.

No more worrying about safety, about whether Mom or Dare are eating right (or at all), or about whether they’re taking their medications on time. With our in-home services, we can open the way for your loved one to lead a more joyous, safe and engaged existence at home.

Personal Care & Support Services in Salt Lake City, UT

Specialized Home Care for Alzheimer’s and Dementia

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia, a progressive medical condition that erodes memory, thinking and problem-solving abilities and can dramatically alter behavior in later stages. Interim HealthCare of Salt Lake City uses the ‘GEMS States’ (a model which helps identify the current state of a person living with dementia) to gain a deeper insight into what the patient is experiencing. This allows caregivers and the family to create a more effective support plan that blends personal care and support services with positive daily activities such as music therapy. By working closely together, we can create a safe, calming environment for your loved one to enjoy.

So what’s the difference between personal care and support services?

Personal care typically addresses activities of daily living, or ADLs, that are essential for independent living. This includes:

  • Personal hygiene (bathing, grooming and oral care)
  • Dressing
  • Eating
  • Toileting and continence
  • Transferring and mobility (standing, sitting, getting in and out of bed or the car)

Support services take care further, providing assistance with tasks such as:

  • Light housework
  • Laundry
  • Shopping
  • Transportation to the doctor’s (or the beauty salon)
  • Meal planning and preparation
  • Writing letters or making appointments
  • Reminding Mom when to take her medications

Professional Care You Can Rely On

Our paraprofessionals and clinicians are trained, skilled, competent and personable, providing the best possible level of care to every individual they serve. We spend a great deal of time and energy making certain that we hire the best caregivers available and conduct thorough personality and attitude assessments to ensure that they are a good fit for the intimate nature of our business. Professional references are checked, drug tests administered, and we even run criminal background checks every 24 hours while they are with our company. Upon hire they are trained and continue to train through an extensive library of courses, supervised by a registered nurse. Finally, for ultimate peace of mind, we are licensed, bonded and insured.

It’s not always about providing a service though... our local team of professionals can also provide human companionship and conversation. Our HomeLife Enrichment standard of care considers the whole person – mind, body, spirit and family – and we use those four pillars as the foundation for every senior’s personal care plan.
